Back Callington Road, Kanmantoo
The CFS is responding to a grass fire near Back Callington Road in Kanmantoo, approximately 3.5kms west of Callington, South Australia.
Approximately 40 CFS firefighters are currently working on the fireground, supported by 5 aircraft, including firebombers and observational aircraft.
Firefighters are also being supported by SA Police, SA Ambulance Service and Department of Infrastructure and Transport.
The fire is currently burning in grassland and is travelling towards the South Eastern Freeway, Callington Road and Wellington Road. There is currently a warning message out for this fire. Refer to cfs.sa.gov.au for further information.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined and Fire Investigators will attend the scene when deemed safe to do so.
Roads are currently open around this incident, however, this may change at short notice. Continue to monitor at: traffic.sa.gov.au/
Smoke is impacting the South Eastern Freeway and surrounding roads in the area, and visibility may be reduced. To ensure your safety and that of firefighters and other emergency personnel who are working in the area, please do not enter the area unless necessary.
