INCIDENT UPDATE - FORSTER LEN KROEHNS LOOKOUT FIRE
ISSUED FOR FORSTER LEN KROEHNS LOOKOUT
The SA Country Fire Service (CFS) advises that the Forster fire
continues to burn. This fire has a current 'Watch and Act' warning
message in place for Hunter Road near Kroehns Landing and Carman Road
south of Nildottie in the Murraylands.
Residents are advised to check
their properties for the presence of fire or embers - especially in
roof spaces, under decks, raised floors and in gutters and take care in
the area over the next few days.
Initial reports indicate that one
pump shed was destroyed and approximately 55 hectares of native scrub
and grassland have been burnt. The fire continues to burn in reeds along
the River Murray.
Up to 16 trucks and 65 firefighters from the CFS will continue to fight the fire overnight leading into Friday.
There
are currently road restrictions in place along Hunter road between
Carman Road to the North and Angas Valley Road to the South. Please be
vigilant to changing conditions in this area. Visibility on other roads
in the area may be reduced due to smoke in the area.
To ensure the
safety of emergency service personnel working along the roadsides around
the fire ground, road users are reminded that the speed limit is 25
km/h when passing vehicles with flashing lights operating.
